Clifton (Gaslight District) Fountain

Matt Kotlarczyk was commissioned to design a fountain comprising recognizable elements of Clifton. The sculpture's left knee up to her left buttocks reflects a soffit from the fire station across Clifton Avenue from the proposed plaza. Her right leg is an iconic column, ending in library-like steps. Water will drip from her left hand, a nod, Kotlarczyk says, to the Tyler Davidson Fountain on Fountain Square. Her right hand cups a lotus blossom, from which water will spring forth. Her breasts are bare, her body intertwined by vines of flowers and her thickly tressed head thrown back as if in praise, ecstasy or abandon.
