The L&N Bridge was dedicated in 1872 as the first Ohio River railroad crossing at Cincinnati. It is our most eccentric bridge, with remnants of many major modifications that are still visible today. The L&N Bridge was painted "Kentucky Blue" until The Commonwealth of Kentucky painted it purple and renamed it "The Purple People Bridge".
